By 2030, most of the human brains at workplace will be replaced by Machines and will be very efficient at it than human beings. Here comes a revolution of Education 4.0 where Humans and Machines need to co-exist to create a better world for all of us.
New schools and new views on teaching are springing up around the world to help prepare the next generation for a rapidly changing employment landscape.
This overhaul of teaching and education methods is much needed – and not only because of the breathtaking pace of change being ushered in by digital technologies, AI and data. It’s also necessary because current models of teaching and education are still firmly rooted in practices that have been around for 200 years or more.
Here are five initiatives that any school can take up now in this new era – Education 4.0 – in fresh and exciting ways.
1. Child led play
A minimum of 90 minutes every day set aside for outdoor play, using equipment such as ladders, buckets and climbing cubes for kindergarten and up to Class 3 students.
2. Budding Entrepreneurs
Add a special focus session on teaching collaboration through entrepreneurship, active citizenship, and social awareness with real-world applications. This gives students the opportunity to work in groups to create a business of their own, then enter their ideas in national competitions.
3. Green School Concept
Shaping the green leaders of the future should be central to any schools in India. Maintaining a sustainable school environment should be one of the school’s main activities and should be encouraged amongst students in the campus.
4. STEAM Courses
Introducing students to next level STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics) Courses should be implemented in Class 5 Onwards including Coding and Robotics. A special wing should be formulated in the campus which focuses on let’s say 15 Days summer camp where students work on modules like programming, robotics, web design, multimedia communications and animation, with students spending about 80% of their learning time interacting with technology.
5. Volunteering and Social Connect
School should adopt a nearest village and include students in developing villages by fundraising, social development, and other outreaches on various social programs. For eg. School can sponsor laptops for children, Provide Solar panels, internet equipment etc. to the villages.
